Solo Exhibition
Benni Kakert - I can not read

23.10-06.11.2022

Berlin-born artist Benni Kakert (*1994) invites you to his first solo exhibition: 'I can not read' - a recent work that is crucial to understand Kakert's notion of perceptual experience.

An oversized tar-coated bunk bed accompanied by 60 tar-soaked pets is the centerpiece of the exhibition. Kakert situates his visitors in an overstated yet sober spacial environment taking place in the head of a child in its room somewhen in the year 1998. The end of a light-hearted time, feeling consciously small with a sensitive and mature emotional perception. Feeling lonely with a desire for security. A saturated societal idea of supportive parenthood.

Benni Kakert is a multidisciplinary artist and a relevant member of german postmodernism. Kakerts unique style is characterised by mixing spontaneous graffiti-like gestures, german symbols, words and objects with depictions of himself, his dog Freddi and people Kakert feels connected with.
